We’re thrilled to see the Inverness Castle Experience open for a winter public preview, ahead of its official opening in 2026, marking a major new chapter for one of the Highlands’ most iconic landmarks.

As part of the £47m transformation, SS+A Associates Mhairi Holland and Catrina Hicks played a key role in shaping the retail experience, ensuring the shop isn’t just a place to purchase, but a continuation of the story visitors encounter throughout the attraction.

The Inverness Castle Experience Shop has been designed as an experience in its own right. Every product has been carefully curated to reflect the landscapes, legends, and culture of the Highlands, using scent, sound, texture, and taste to deepen emotional connection. From tartans and botanical gifts to whiskies, gins, and crafted keepsakes, each item carries meaning and reinforces the narrative visitors have just explored.

Importantly, the shop is open to all, no ticket required, extending the Castle’s reach into the local community and offering a welcoming, story-led retail space in the heart of Inverness. We’re incredibly proud of our development and delivery of this authentic, experience-led, sustainable retail approach.
